Yes, Mindless Food products are vegetarian. Please look to the easy to read allergen and ingredient panel of a particular product for more information.
Yes, all Mindless Foods products are Keto-friendly. In fact, we list the Net Carb amount on the Halo found at the top of each product to make selecting.
According to the FDA, when manufacturers claim a food has “no added sugars,” it cannot be processed with any sugar or sugar-containing ingredients, though it can have sugar alcohol or artificial sweeteners. Products without added sugar can contain naturally occurring sugar. All Mindless Foods products have zero added sugar and are sweetened with Blossom®, a proprietary mixture of all natural erythritol and monk fruit.
Carb-Careful is a product designation that suggests the item has low carbohydrates. A “low carb” diet is food plan that restricts carbohydrates, such as those found in sugary foods, pasta and bread. It is often high in protein, fat and healthy vegetables. There are many different types of low-carb diets, and studies show that they can cause weight loss and improve health. All Mindless Foods products are Carb-Careful and have no processed carbs also known as refined carbs or simple carbs. Refined carbs are found in foods that have been heavily processed to remove many of the other nutrients they normally carry. These foods include white flour, added sugars and sweeteners, white rice, and many other refined ingredients. Typically these simple, refined carbs are easily processed by the body, and will often cause a quick spike in blood sugar levels.
The concept of net carbs is based on the principle that not all carbohydrates affect the body in the same manner. Net carbs are the carbohydrates in food that you can digest and use for energy. Since our body doesn’t have the enzymes to break down fiber, it passes through our digestion system unchanged. Some carbohydrates, like simple or refined starches and sugars, are absorbed rapidly and have a high glycemic index, meaning they cause blood sugar levels to quickly rise after eating. Excess simplecarbohydrates are stored in the body as fat. Examples of these include potatoes, white bread, white rice, and sweets. Other carbohydrates, such as the fiber found in whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, move slowly through the digestive system, and much of it isn’t digested at all (insoluble fiber). Fiber and sugar alcohols have a minimal effect on blood sugar. All Mindless Food products display the amount of Net Carbs on the front label.
Total Carbs – Fiber – Sugar Alcohol = Net Carbs
Blossom® is a proprietary, all natural, plant based brand of zero calorie sweetener. A combination of Erythritol and Monk Fruit, all Halo Healthy Tribe products including Mindless Foods products contain it.
Monk fruit sweetener is extracted from monk fruit. The monk fruit is also known as luo han guo or “Buddha fruit.” It’s a small, round fruit grown in Southeast Asia. This fruit has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine. Monk fruit sweetener is zero calories but may be 100–250 times sweeter than table sugar. Blossom®, our proprietary all-natural plant based sweetener combines monk fruit and erythritol to reduce intense sweetness.
Erythritol is a zero calorie natural sweetener that is used as a sugar substitute. Considered a sugar alcohol, small intestines absorb it quickly so it doesn’t have a chance to “metabolize” — turn into energy in your body. It’s also OK for people with diabetes as Erythritol has no effect on glucose or insulin levels
